How can we prevent hunger and malnutrition?

Malnutrition is the lack of proper nutrition caused by not eating enough of the right things. It is a condition common in rural areas and urban slums and causes long-term damage to the child’s body. It makes them more vulnerable to diseases and disorders, making proper nutrition critical, especially in the formative years.

Children who lack proper nutrition are more susceptible to stunted growth and wasting, which may lead to higher mortality rates. For instance, Kanu (4) lives in the semi-arid region of Alwar where water is constantly scarce. The lack of water affects the crops grown in the area and the food Kanu and other children receive. Because of a lack of proper nutrition, Kanu was diagnosed with Severe Acute Malnutrition and required immediate assistance.

In trying times like these, organisations like World Vision India assist to save the lives of malnourished children. Eradicating malnutrition requires work at the grassroots. It requires awareness within communities and extensive outreach programs to drive change. You can contribute to the cause when you donate online to save malnourished children or aid in childhood rescue from situations that affect their development.
